Doctor WhoTube!

We’re all getting rather excited about the Doctor Who animation we’ve got coming up at Flip this year. To give you a taster of what’s to come, we have created our own channel on YouTube.

Follow the link and have a look: http://uk.youtube.com/user/FlipFestival

The channel brings together a vast amount of professional and fan-made Doctor Who animations that are out there, as well as some other Doctor Who related videos. They’re well worth checking out – I particuarly like the Lego stories and the Dalek karaoke video.

Here is a video that highlights some of the work done by Cosgrove Hall who are responsible for ‘The Invasion’ series which will be show at Flip this year. Enjoy!

Yeeesss Maaaster

Each year for Flip we choose a feature film to be screened during the festival, something that will appeal to adults and children alike. This year is no exception, and we have chosen IGOR, Directed by Anthony Leondis, starring John Cusack, Myleene Klass, Steve Buscemi and John Cleese.

“Igor” is a playfully irreverent comedy that brings a new twist to the classic monster genre. In a world filled with Mad Scientists and Evil Inventions, one talented evil scientist’s hunch-backed lab assistant has big dreams of becoming a Mad Scientist himself and winning the annual Evil Science Fair.

I first watched the trailer for IGOR when at Llandudno Cineworld (exotic, i know) when going to see WALL E.  I remember giggling at a joke about IGOR being in the bathroom as he had a ‘bat stuck in the belfry, if you know what I mean’.

Here is the trailer:

IGOR will be showing Friday 7  – Thursday 13 November. Time TBC, keep an eye on the Flip site for more info.

Dr Who by the fans, for the fans.

We are all fans of Dr Who here at Flip HQ, but who isn’t right?  I am particularly excited for the Animated Dr Who stuff we have coming up at Flip this year.

It seems Dr Who is one of those programmes that belongs to the fans more than any other programme I know. Their are so many fan clubs, fan sites and fan tribute films.  Here is my round up of fantastic tributes:

Dr Who, Sunday night Karaoke style:

Merry Christmas and a Happy Who Year:

..and finally, my favorite. A Dr Who holiday video made my children (with a bit of help). Brilliant.

Volunteers wanted!

We are looking for dedicated volunteers for the Flip Animation Festival 2008. If you have a passion for animation and events and would like to gain some experience (and get a free T Shirt!) get in touch. We will need volunteers leading up to the festival to work on marketing and assisting the festival team; and also during the festival itself held 6 – 8 November 2008.
